Who We Are

Maine Right to Life (MRTL) is a state affiliate of the National Right to Life Committee. We are the oldest statewide non-profit 501(C)3 corporation registered to do pro-life advocacy.

MRTL was founded to protect the dignity and worth of each human being. We seek to uphold the inviolable sanctity of human life from conception to natural death by making abortion, infanticide, doctor-assisted suicide, and euthanasia socially, ethically, and legally unacceptable and actively promote positive alternatives.

We are Pro-Life, Pro-Active, and Pro-Women. We seek to inform, educate, and motivate people from all walks of life to defend life from womb to tomb. Our vision is that abortion will become unthinkable.

Why We Do What We Do

Support MRTL

Today, a woman’s right to abortion is referred to as “women’s reproductive healthcare.” Access to abortion is considered an “essential service.”

American abortion policy is among the most permissive in the world. And Maine’s abortion policy is among the most permissive in the country.

The US is one of only seven countries that allows abortion after 20 week’s gestation for any reason, no questions asked.

Thankfully, the overturning of Roe v. Wade has permitted individual states to have their own abortion laws – and many states since the Supreme Court Dobbs ruling have implemented more restrictions on abortion. Maine is not one of these states.

In fact, the current administration seeks to expand abortion access in Maine. No matter how you feel about this, your tax dollars fund and promote abortion.

We, the people of Maine, have the power to change Maine’s laws.

If you love life, we encourage you to get involved however you wish – do you feel called to run for public office? Do you feel called to get involved in your church? Do you feel called to learn more and help in any way?

America faced the atrocities of slavery and changed. Our hope is America will face the atrocities of abortion and change. Abortion can become unthinkable. It can be done by taking action, healing those afflicted, building an army of truth-tellers, and changing laws.

Our History

The Maine Right to Life is the oldest Pro-Life advocacy non-profit in Maine. Non-denominational. Nonpolitical 501C-3. We are privately funded only – all donations are tax deductible. Receiving no federal dollars. MRTL is part of a Pro-Life Maine coalition that includes the Roman Catholic Diocese of Maine, the Christian Civic League of Maine, Concerned Women for America of Maine, and Students for Life.

We Are David Fighting Goliath!

Maine's landscape:

  • Maine is the oldest state in the nation – median age: 45
  • Maine is one of only four states that has more deaths/year than births.
  • Maine aborts 5 babies/day.
  • YET – Abortions in Maine are down – 2021 vs. 2020 (according to Maine CDC)
  • Maine's birth rate for 2021 is up! It is an outlier – according to
  • Older millennials, formerly Maine residents, are moving back to Maine to start a family.
  • Older Millennials from other states are moving to Maine to start a family because of the quality of life.
  • YET – 2/3rd of the lawmakers in Augusta have a 100% perfect voting record for supporting Planned Parenthood.
  • Conclusion: Lawmakers and this administration's abortion policy is not aligned with the trends of the general public in Maine.

Action Needed

To build an army of “truth tellers” willing to speak up, share their stories, contact lawmakers, pray, and encourage their faith community to get involved as follows:

  1. Know and contact your lawmakers and let them know how you feel about Maine’s abortion policy. Perhaps share a personal story about why you are Pro-Life.
  2. Offer compassion, support, and help to women who:
  3. Find themselves unexpectedly pregnant.
  4. Are experiencing Post Abortion remorse and need healing.
  5. Contact your faith communities:
  6. Ask if they will host a workshop.
  7. Ask if they will set up a table to promote Maine Right to Life.
  8. Via – Supply of resource directories
  9. Via – Brochures encouraging them to become a Friend For Life
  10. Via – Letter writing brigade to local lawmakers
  11. Via – Giving the drive to support local Pregnancy Resource Centers
